In certain circumstances, Virginia law permits a stepparent adoption without the consent of a biological parent. Weekend Law assists clients with the preparation and filing of adoption paperwork in cases involving unknown parents, parents whose whereabouts cannot be determined, or circumstances where a parent may have abandoned the parental relationship. Services may include preparation of the Petition for Adoption, supporting pleadings, affidavits, proposed orders, and other documents necessary to initiate and process the adoption.

Weekend Law’s representation is limited to document preparation, filing assistance, and procedural guidance. If the location of a biological parent is unknown, services may also include preparation of documents necessary to request alternative service.
